The Customer: A logistics provider handling regulated beverages, seeking to replace their legacy decentralised SAP WM with a modern warehouse management system. Their vision extended beyond internal operations. They wanted to empower their customers with self-service delivery management through a dedicated portal and dock appointment scheduling.

The Challenge

Modernising warehouse operations is rarely straightforward, particularly when legacy systems must continue running whilst new platforms come online. This organisation faced two core challenges:

    • Complex Transition Management: The phased go-live required careful integration between SAP EWM, SAP Decentralised WM and S/4HANA ERP. Seamless operations had to be maintained across a mixed system landscape throughout the transition
    • Customer and Supplier Access: Role-based access was essential, enabling suppliers and customers to book dock slots directly through EWM Dock Appointment Scheduling. This put control in the hands of the people who needed it most

SAP EWM was successfully implemented delivering:

    • Full 1D and 2D barcode scanning capabilities
    • Support for all 3PL barcode standards, ensuring compatibility across the customer base
    • A modern, scalable platform ready to support growth and evolving customer expectations
