Customer Use Cases

Global Electronics Manufacturing

Multi-Site SAP EAM Standardisation

Sector: Electronics Manufacturing | Focus: Global process harmonisation across four countries

The Customer: A manufacturer of AC-DC and DC-DC power supply units, with operations spanning the UK, USA, China, and Vietnam. Their diverse production assets include SMT lines, test rigs, and assembly equipment across multiple sites.

The Challenge

A global power supply manufacturer had grown faster than its processes could keep pace. Across the UK, USA, China, and Vietnam, maintenance was tracked manually (often outside SAP entirely) leaving equipment vulnerable to unplanned breakdowns with no history to learn from. Asset creation was inconsistent, causing delayed capitalisation and unreliable depreciation dates. Each site had developed its own ways of working, but what was needed was global consistency without sacrificing local flexibility.

The Solution

We implemented SAP EAM across all four countries, creating a unified approach whilst respecting regional nuances:

    • Preventive Maintenance Framework – Structured time-based and counter-based strategies replaced ad-hoc approaches
    • Formal Breakdown Process – Every incident now captured, building equipment history for continuous improvement
    • Equipment-to-Asset Linkage – Operational and financial data aligned through clear record connections
    • Standardised Commissioning Workflow – Consistent processes ensure depreciation starts correctly, wherever the asset sits

The Outcome

    • Global consistency – Teams across four countries now follow the same playbook
    • Reduced unplanned downtime – Issues caught before they become breakdowns
    • Complete equipment history – Data-driven decisions on repair, refurbishment, or replacement
    • Accurate asset capitalisation – Finance has confidence in valuations and depreciation
    • Operations and finance aligned – Two functions now working together seamlessly

Today, an engineer in Vietnam and a finance manager in the UK see the same record, the same history, the same value. That’s technology done right – not replacing human connection, but enabling it across continents.
